Any building with more than 5 floors (including basement levels) will be required by law to have at least 1 elevator. If there is only one elevator, and that elevator goes down, there must be immediate attempts to repair it as quickly as possible. The elevator owner will be required to log into the elevator’s control panel, and add the credentials. In addition, the telephone number to the elevator company will be noted in this panel. The owner is required to make sure there is sufficient internet connectivity (1MBPS+) for calls from the elevator. The telephone number of the company managing the elevator must also be provided for the rider to see if there was an elevator down. This will allow them to use their cellular telephone to make a call to the elevator company. Each elevator must be numbered to inform the elevator company which of the elevators is down.
